The Lot department was created on January 29, 1790. At that time it included the districts for Cahors, Figeac, Saint-Céré, Gourdon, Lauzerte and Montauban. The last two were reunited when the Tarn-et-Garonne department was created in 1808.  (source : www.lot.fr)
